Our little girl is 12 days old!

So a lot has happened in the last two weeks... It really has flown by. My last day at work was Tuesday the 8th after having contractions all day on the 7th and part of the 8th. (And all day on the 9th and of course the 10th). Lucie didn't make it to her induction date and I went into labor on my own. Thursday we went to the hospital where I was admitted and Lucie was born just about 10 hrs later--- she came kicking and screaming.... She is such a joy to our lives and is so fun. Every day she becomes a little more alert. We are such proud parents. (Just sleep deprived, writing blog posts at 4:00 am while feeding the baby).

Lucie's birth weight was 7 lbs 8 oz and she was 20 in long. Whoa! Ok so they were way off on their estimations... And apparently I was freaked out over nothing.

We are adjusting to life with a newborn and no sleep. Lucie is a night owl so were hoping her circadian clock gets on schedule in a few weeks when babies are capable of that...

We have been so blessed by family and friends while adjusting to life with a newborn. Everyone has been so willing to help with lucie and to bring us meals... We don't know how we would manage without all of this help!!! I've also been so lucky to have Patrick home from work these past couple weeks. He goes back on Thursday and I'm already sad about that... He is such a good dad :)

More updates will come on lucie as she grows.... Some pics below....

A light at the end of the tunnel

The last couple of weeks we have been anxiously anticipating Lucie.... Yesterday when we went to my doctors appointment we were given the option to schedule an induction on either of the days within the next week that my doctor was on call. Those were saturday(today) or Friday jan 11. We chose jan 11 to try to give Lucie as much time to come on her own as possible. If she is not here by then we will be inducing. her weight estimate is currently at 8 lbs 15 oz... She's expected to gain about a half a lb per week so after that point it wouldn't really be safe to continue the pregnancy and keep letting her grow...

The good news is she seems to be healthy. We did a non stress test and a biophysical profile ultrasound... She's just stubborn!! We are anxious to meet our little girl but are trying to reduce the risk of c section. The doctor indicated that the c section rate would be the same with any induction regardless of size at this point ... The half pound potential weight gain is not a big difference....

We will, of course, be updating friends and family once she arrives... Probably not via social media for a while though... We appreciate everyone's kind words and prayers for us this week! We are even more excited to meet her than you are but are savoring every child free moment we have left :o)
