Picture fails

Everyone comments on how smiling and happy Lucie seems in her pictures, and for the most part it's true, she's a fairly happy baby. But I have a confession... Sometimes I have to take the picture like 5 times to get a good one. And sometimes she just screams...

The picture "rejects" are just too funny not to share.. Here are a few of my favorites:

Pinterest Fails and Wins of Maternity Leave

So.... since I have been staying home the past 10 or so weeks, I have had a lot of no time to do things like try stuff I see on Pinterest while nursing at 3 a.m.  That being said, I have tried out a few Pinterest things that i couldn't resist.

Here's what worked:

Do it yourself tutu for Lucie :
(kinda hard to cut tulle evenly, just sayin'. )
here

and baby headband:
so super easy.... the hardest part was waiting in line for my number at JoAnn's...
here
(I changed the flower from the site)

and "birds nest" breakfast muffins
(okay, the oven did start smoking while making these)

and cream cheese grilled cheese sandwiches with blackberry preserves (a total win in my opinion...)
here

And Dr. Oz's teeth whitening... I promise this worked better than my actual teeth whitening solution from the dentist....
here

I also tried some banana breakfast cookies that were pretty good. i can't find the Pinterest link, i guess i forgot to pin it, but they are just 1/2c oats, 2 ripe bananas, and 1/4 bag chocolate chips mixed together and dropped on the cookie sheet in little lumps @ 325 for 15-20 mins. Guilt-free, Gluten-Free, and delicious :) (Even PK ate some and he doesn't like bananas or even banana bread)

AND THE FAIL.....
Kale Chips..... didn't work out for me... they burnt and made my house smell like fresh cut grass...
here

And there are a ton of other things I still want to try in my 2.5 weeks of nursing a crying baby non-stop and watching Ellen ahem, maternity leave. Here are a few:

Cake batter protein shake
here

Monster cookie dough dip
here

Buffalo Chicken Quinoa (For PK)

Do we see a trend emerging..........?
We're all about food in this house. Anyways, lots to do before I go back to work ;)  Where's Lucie you ask? Sleeping on top of me. Yep, not doing anything for now... maybe imagining what life would be like as a stay at home mom .... Pinterest= craft porn awesome.

Two Months

So, the first month went by fast, but this second month has gone by reallllllllly fast. We celebrated Valentine's Day and Lucie's grandparent's and uncle's birthdays. We have also begun celebrating Lucie's daddy's birthday which is Thursday 3/14 (Patrick will remind you that, yes, this is Pi Day).

Anyways, Lucie went for her pediatrician visit this morning, and we knew she had been growing lots. I was for sure she would be like 12 lbs, because she has started growing out of a lot of her 0-3 month clothes, but she was just 10 lbs 1 oz. (25%) and was whopping 23.5 inches long. She has grown 3.5 inches since growth, which is probably why it seems like she is growing out of all of her footie pajamas and her shirts are short!! It is time to adjust her Baby Bjorn to the next level!

This month Lucie has really started to smile and flirt with us. She is always the most smiley when she wakes up in the morning. Patrick loves waking Lucie up to get the first smiles of the day before he goes off to work. She is sleeping 7.5 or 8 hr stretches, but it just happens to be more like 8:30pm -3:30 am. Which means i am still waking up in the middle of the night to feed her. I'm hoping she starts picking a more favorable stretch for when I go back to work in a month!

Lucie's favorite things right now are laying on her changing pad (still), sitting in her bouncy chair and making faces at the animals, and swinging in the swing at the fastest level possible. She is a great companion for day outings. She loves sitting in her carseat and riding around at the mall, Target, the grocery, etc. She also has been out to eat a couple of times, and seems to like her carseat in the sling so that she can sit up by the table with everyone else. She and Dottie Jo, my parent's dog, are still getting to know each other and are not sure what to think of each other yet. She rides on her daddy's chest in the Baby Bjorn, and made it all of the way around the scenic loop in it on Saturday. During the next month we hope to conquer Lucie's sleeping arrangement so that she is prepared to sleep over at all of her babysitter's homes beginning next month. Up first will be learning to sleep on a flat surface.

In other news, my sister Meaghan is getting married 6/29/13! We are so excited for her. I went shopping and ordered my bridesmaids drew last week, which was fun being (7 weeks at that point) post-partum, and trying to figure out a way to hide my little pooch of a belly. I'm hoping that by the time my sisters wedding rolls around there wont be as much of a pooch anymore, but, hey! i grew a baby :) way more important than worrying about a tummy pooch, right?!?!

Goal #2 for this month is to get back to church... We have been skippers. We have been twice since
Lucie was born, once with her. It didn't go so hot. She got fussy and i ended up pushing her around in the hallway in the stroller. I've heard the Moby wraps are really beneficial for keeping the baby calm and quiet during church.... I love our Baby Bjorn but she has to be moving to stay calm in that thing.  We don't have a Moby, but maybe I'll be able to find one at consignment or something?

Lucie has had several 'play dates' now and enjoyed spending time with her new friends Norah Kate, Emmeline, and Noah. She hopes to have more playdates before mommy goes back to work!
